Gastraschisis

Abstract
Gastraschisis is a rare congenital defect demanding urgent surgical correction. The anomaly
is characterized by a congenital evisceration of intraperitoneal contents through an eccentric defect of the abdominal wall, usually, to the right side the umbilicus.
Recently we have experienced two cases of gastroschisis. The abdominal wall repair was carried out by skin flaps to create a large ventral hernia within several hours after birth. One patient died of sepsis in early postoperative phase and the other patient recovered well and had an uneventful postoperative course.
We reported our experience and reviewed literatures briefly.
